Please read the outlined policies below.

Attendance

Regular class attendance is necessary as a part of the learning process.  Attendance is also a component of the final grade.  Please note the following policies regarding attendance.

Excused Absence

If the student is sick, the parents must notify the teacher prior to the class via email communication.  Please refrain from sending children to class with flu-symptoms, or if they have been running a fever of 101 or higher in the last 24 hours.

Medical Emergencies

Students will be taken to the nearest hospital in case of a medical emergency.  In case of non-life-threatening injuries only the parents will be notified (the parents are responsible for making sure correct contact information is registered with the school during registration).  In case of emergencies, we will call 911 and notify the parents also.  Samskrita Bharati is not financially responsible for the expenses of medical treatment received.

Refunds

Parents will receive a full refund minus a $25 cancellation charge per child if the child is withdrawn on or before the day after the fourth class. For example, if classes start on Sep 7 in an academic year, the fourth class will be on Sep 28th and the refund will be processed if cancelled before 11:59 PM on Sept 29. No refund will be given after that. Please note that this policy applies to adult registrations as well.

Discipline

We believe that students benefit most in a positive and safe learning environment.  We strive to create such an environment for all the children during the classes.  We work together with parents and children to ensure that such an environment is maintained.  We reserve the right to take an appropriate action to preserve the safety and well-being of all the children in the class.

Dress Code

Modest and conservative western and Indian clothing is allowed.

Communication

Parents are expected to provide a valid phone number and an email address that is regularly monitored (we do not send any unsolicited mail unrelated to the balakendram). Parents' email IDs will be attended to class-wise and kendram-wise google groups for communication purposes.

Schoology will be the primary mode of all academic collaboration and communication for children’s classes. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that their children’s profile is created and the child has joined in the appropriate schoology group.

Pickup & Dropoff

During in-person sessions, parents are responsible for dropping off their children in the respective classrooms or appropriate venue at the designated time. Students should be picked up after the class from the same location.  In case of an emergency, please contact the school administrator whose number will be provided to you during the first day of school.

Event Participation

To enhance the learning experience the children are required to participate in the annual day and the kanTha-pATha-spardhaa (chanting competition).  During the annual day program children perform skits, plays and songs.  The chanting competition is an opportunity to learn shlokas with correct pronunciation.  The dates for the events are posted in the calendar.  If the child is unable to participate, the parent should contact the teacher at the earliest.  For the annual day, extra practices are conducted about two weeks prior to the event.

Outdoor picnic is organized during the year and participation is highly encouraged.
